Russ Ellsworth

Founder - Alster Communications

Russ Ellsworth retired in February 1998 after serving the Pacific Northwest as a manufacturers' representative for 22 years.  After receiving his EE degree, Russ went to work for the Singer Corporation.  It was here that he conceived of the idea of Alster Communications, LLC, while he was the Western Sales Manager.  In 1976, Russ moved his wife and two boys from the Los Angeles area to Boise (where a body has room to roam).

He named his company after his sons Alec and Sterling.

Our company owes a lot to Russ.  We have been encouraged by hearing the story of his first trip selling Singer service monitors in an old beat up Toyota.  He would fit is 6'6" frame (and demos) into the car and take off for days on end.  We are thankful for the leadership and direction he has shown us.  We are grateful for the opportunity he presented to each of us to be our own businessman.  But what we owe Russ more than anything is the chance to be his friend.  Russ made friends easily, as a result he never had customers, just friends.

Now that Russ has retired, we owe him something.  We owe him the responsibility of carrying on the friendships of Alster Communications, LLC.  Now Russ will have the time to build that 1000 watt amateur amplifier and several projects in his wood shop.  But more importantly, he will spend time visiting his grandchildren.  While Russ is doing that, we will serve our friends with integrity, because that is what Russ did.  We must represent our factories with respect and ability, because that is what he did.  Alster Communications, LLC, will continue because Russ had shown us what it means to be a friend.

Thank you Russ for everything.  Enjoy a happy and healthy retirement and your service to your church.
